The issued medic patch is red and white — high-vis by design, so the medic stands out. This is the covert counterpart: laser-cut from 500D MULTICAM® Cordura with Covert IR Solas, subdued to the naked eye and working as an IFF identification panel under night vision — the same Gen 3 SOLAS principle as our IR rank slides.

The standard red-and-white medic patch is high-vis by design — exactly what you want on the range or in garrison, and exactly what you don't want on a covert night task. This is the low-signature alternative: subdued to the naked eye, and an IFF identification panel under night vision, the same principle as our IR rank slides. It's not a beacon — it's a quieter way to identify the medic among friendlies.
◈ Gen 3 SOLAS IR Retro-Reflective Material
Built with mil-spec SOLAS IR retro-reflective material. Economy IR reflects both visible and infrared light and can appear reflective under normal conditions. Gen 3 covert IR reflects only in the infrared spectrum, staying visually subdued to the naked eye. When illuminated by an NVD's IR emitter, it retro-reflects infrared light directly back to the source — clearly identifying the medic among friendlies through night vision, with no visible-light signature.
It won't give the position away. This is strictly infrared-reflective SOLAS — not a generic 3M reflective product. It returns a signature only when it is both viewed through a night-vision device and hit by an IR light source, retro-reflecting straight back to that emitter. It does not glow in the dark. It's an IFF (identification friend-or-foe) marker — it identifies the medic to friendly NV-equipped viewers who already have them in view, and nothing more. It isn't a light source and isn't meant for searching people out in the dark.
